Beagles

We have been the proud parents of six wonderful beagles: Ralph, Rosie, Riley, Reggie, Roscoe and Rigby.

Each week one of these beagles is featured on our Beagle of the Week blog.

Currently we have five beagles.  Some people ask "Five Beagles! Why so many?". Well, why not? Beagles make great pets and house dogs. They are a very friendly and lovable breed. They love to play and for the most part get along well with children and other dogs. To me, they are the perfect size house dog, not tiny and yappy, or large enough to knock everything down dog.

We have had all of our beagles, except Roscoe, since they were puppies. They have brought us lots of joy all these years, even when they have been going through those "chewy" puppy years.

Ralph was our first beagle. We got him when he was 5 weeks old and weighted 2 1/2 lbs.

Rosie came along about 1 year after Ralph, as he really needed a friend. She is a known as a Lemon
beagle because of her coloring. She is the Alpha dog in this pack.

Riley came to the pack about 6 years after Rosie. Bringing in a puppy really helped keep the older dogs young. He is very unique for a Beagle, he is very timid. But is our sweetest dog.

And then there were 4. We got Reggie about 18 months after Riley and they have been fast friends since. Reggie is very energic, playful, and out going.

We rescued Roscoe from a local animal shelter in 2007. He is a Bagel (that is a Beagle/Bassett hound mix) and it is believed that he was 6 yeass old at the time of adoption. He was just too cute not to bring home. He has adapted well to having 4 new friends with which to play.

Rigby came into our pack in November 2009 as an 11 week old puppy.
